This Performance Piston Assembly has been designed 100% in house specifically to keep up with modern Airsoft and Gelbalster Technology.
With the emergence of Brushless Motors, higher quality mosfets, & Increasingly Fast, High Performance Competition Grade Builds, this piston is designed to be the reliable work-horse ready to take on any load. What ever your build is, you can use this widely compatible piston.
Main Product Features
Our Ultimate Performance Piston is made from a proprietary blend of materials being Polycarbonate as the base, combined with two other Polymers which increase the ability to absorb shock. This results in a serious degree of strength and resilience. Tester ran over 100k rounds at 400 FPS 52 RPS and is still running.
We redesigned our piston's body, increasing the overall length by 3mm. Our piston bodies are 3mm longer than your standard TM spec piston. This is the perfect AOE correction. DO NOT use AOE washers or spacers with this piston. It is Pre AOE corrected 100% drop in ready. Our piston is designed to work with our cylinder head for perfect AOE.
With a longer body comes a longer rack. Our rack is proprietary to our piston. We redesigned the entire rack, changing the dimensions of the pick up tooth, having the 2nd tooth removed with the 3rd tooth cut to a 45 degree angle. Our DSG Racks have a total of 7 teeth removed, which means on a 8 tooth Duel Sector Gear, you will have one tooth on the rack after the release tooth. This adds integrity to the rack and saves weight.
High Speed Cutouts throughout the body. Cutouts below the rails as well as the entire top portion of the body, a total of 28 cut outs. Reducing the weight as much as possible, our larger stronger piston only weighs 15.8g for the DSG and 16.5g for the SSG Version.
The Racks are Metal Injected Chromoly Steel which means our dimensions are always perfect. We then put our racks through heat treatment to a specific hardness, and then we apply our special surface treatments.
These Treatments we used increase the life of the part, increase durability and reduce friction. The TiN coating on the DSG Rack offers the ability to see your wear pattern over time.
For our SSG racks we went with a special coating that is superior to standard black nitriding. You will see that our racks have a lightish black finish as if you mixed a hint of grey into black. That is the appearance of the rack. This finish offers supreme wear resistance and reduced friction compared to cheaper finishes. This blend is a Real Deal Secret.
Offset Rack. You will notice that our rack is not centered and the rack is indeed raised to mesh better with your sector gear inside the gearbox. This translates to a better transfer of energy, and increased efficiency.
Full Grease Retaining Rails. The Rails on our piston run the entire length of the piston. This increases the Pistons stability. Under fast cycle rates, this slight movement of the piston makes a difference. As well there are small grooves in our rails to aid in carrying grease and lubricants further reducing friction.
Increased our overall Width of the piston to 22mm we have found that this piston works in pretty much every gearbox tested. Bottom of page will contain gearboxes tested.
Compatible with Retro 2024 Gearbox Spec as well as Retro Arm Gearsets. Retro made some changes to their gearboxes which caused very common brands pistons to lock up or have increased friction between the piston rack and sector gear teeth. Jake took this into account when engineering the piston.

Tech Tips
Bonding of the rack is recommended for Brushless builds. You can bond the rack yourself, our pistons we tested without bonding. Our Bundle Kits offer bonded racks. We recommend you to bond / Glue your rack to the piston. Apply glue or epoxy along the rails, near pick up tooth support area on piston. Tap rack into place. Rack has very tight fitment, to remove rack use a flat tool and insert it in between the teeth in the rack and push.
You can tap your rack into place by tapping the face of the rack, stand your piston up slide the rack in you can press the face of the rack / piston in your table to get the majority of the rack in , then tap the face of the rack. Bonding is not necessary for Brushed Builds.
If you can’t remove the rack then tap it into place and don’t worry about bonding. Our pistons have really tight fitment. The Piston head also holds the rack in place. Be sure to thread lock your Piston head screw.
It is recommended to bond your rack. Clean the excess.
Builds up to 30-32 RPS can use my Real Deal CNC piston head. Builds 32+ RPS use FPS SoftAir Piston Head or a lightweight POM Head ***
If you’re building a brushless DSG , FPS Softair Piston head is necessary.
